Rental Car Terms and Conditions

Where can I find the terms and conditions of the rental agreement?

A range of different factors affect the specifics of the rental agreement. These factors are the country from which the car is rented, the specific rental service or agent and the type of rental vehicle. The consumer should always consult the rental conditions for their individual agreement. The rental agreement for each car can be found in a few different locations. On the quotations page, there will be a link for the rental agreement that corresponds to each car on the page. You can also find a link to the rental agreement on the confirmation page after you have selected a specific rental car and the terms and conditions will also be printed on the confirmation voucher that you bring to claim the car.

Payment

What are the available payment options for the booking?

We accept all major credit cards for online payment of the booking. The consumer should note that a security deposit is left for the vehicle. This will take the form of an amount being held on the individual’s credit card and cash deposits are not accepted. To learn more about the credit cards and the security deposit, the user can find details in the terms of the agreement.

Are changes to the booking allowed?

Can I amend a confirmed booking?

Yes, changes can be made to the booking after confirmation. You will need to have your booking information ready and you will need to provide the details about the changes that you would like to make. With a change in the booking, there is a possibility that the price of the rental could change. Changes can be made to the agreement by following the manage booking link.

Can I add more drivers to my booking?

Additional drivers can be added to the agreement at the rental office. All drivers must be present at the rental office and have their driver’s license with them.

How can I change the pick-up or drop-off time on the booking agreement?

The pick-up and drop-off times of the agreement can be changed by following the manage booking link on the page. Changes to the pick-up and drop-off times could result in a change to the original cost of the rental agreement.

The Voucher

What is the voucher and why is it needed?

The rental voucher is a document that confirms all of the details of the agreement and reservation. It will be emailed to you and it must be printed and produced at the rental office when you go to claim the vehicle. If you do not have the voucher, the rental  service may refuse to rent the vehicle or they may charge a different rate as that of the booking. We will not offer any refund if you did not present the voucher to the rental service.

I lost my voucher. What should I do?

If you have lost your voucher, follow the link to manage your booking. Here you can find an online version that can be viewed and printed. Print the online version and use that when you go to claim the vehicle.

What happens if I do not bring the voucher when I claim the car?

If you do not present the voucher to the rental agent, it is possible that they will refuse to rent the car or that they may charge a different rate than the one in the booking. There will be no refunds for consumers that do not present the voucher at the rental office.

What should I bring with me when I go to claim the vehicle?

To claim the vehicle, the driver will typically need to bring:

  • Your driver’s license
  • The confirmation voucher
  • A valid credit card
  • It is possible that the rental service may ask for additional forms of identification like a utility bill
  • Any additional drivers that may be on the agreement with their driver’s license
  • You should check the terms of the agreement to ensure that you have all of the necessary documentation to pick up the vehicle

Cancellation of Booking

Do I forfeit the deposit if I cancel my booking?

Cancellation Policy.

What is the policy for cancellations?

For rentals that are paid in part online, with the booking deposit being paid at the time of booking and the remaining balance to be settled at the time when the car is claimed. If the booking is cancelled within 7-days, but no less than 48-hours before pick-up, all funds will be reimbursed in full. If the booking is cancelled more than 7-days from the booking date, all funds will be reimbursed except for a cancellation fee and any card processing fees. If the cancellation is made with less than 48-hours until the booking date, no funds will be reimbursed.

For bookings that are prepaid in full a cancellation within 7-days, but no less than 48-hours from the pick-up time will get a full reimbursement of funds. For cancellation beyond 7-days from the pick-up time, all funds except the cancellation fee and any card processing fees will be reimbursed. For cancellations that occur within 48-hours from the time of pick-up, all funds except 3-days of rental and the card processing fees will be reimbursed.

There are no cancellation fees for bookings that are made on a post-paid basis.

How do I cancel a booking?

Use the link provided in the confirmation email.

We will not be responsible for any monetary losses that result from cancellation or amendment to the booking agreement that is in connection with a change in the monetary exchange rate.

One-Way Rentals

Are there any cross-border or territorial restrictions?

The individual rental service provider sets territorial and cross-border restrictions and this may mean that you are not allowed to travel outside of the country from which the car is rented. To find information about these restrictions, check the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. For more information, you may also contact the rental supplier.

Age Restrictions

Are there any age restrictions for the rental?

Any age restrictions on the rental will be set by the rental service that supplies the vehicle. The rental service may set minimum and maximum age restrictions for drivers and they may also attach additional fees to drivers that are beyond or below certain age limits. Details about any age restrictions and fees can be found in the terms and conditions of the agreement.

Insurance

What is the collision damage waiver?

This is insurance that limits the level of liability for the renter in case of damage. The liability of the renter is limited to an excess amount of the insurance. The insurance has exclusions to certain types of damage like damage to the windows, windshield, tires, the undercarriage, the roof and for lost keys. The insurance is included in most of the rates, however, you should check the terms and conditions to make sure and to learn more about what the insurance does and does not cover.

What is the vehicle theft waiver?

This is insurance to limit the liability of the renter in the event that the vehicle is stolen. This is included in most of the rates, but the renter should check the terms and conditions to make sure that it is included and to learn the full details of the coverage. If the vehicle is stolen and you cannot return the key, as in a situation where you were careless and the keys were taken, you may be held liable for the full cost of the vehicle.

What is the liability insurance?

This is insurance to limit the liability of the renter in the event of any damages to persons or property.

The insurance is limited and the damages may exceed the policy, in which case the driver may be held liable for the cost above the value of the policy. Please read the terms and conditions of the rental agreement for the full details of the liability insurance.

Is there any break down insurance?

Most of the rates do include roadside assistance. Read the terms and conditions of your agreement to ensure that this has been included in your rate. Most rental services do have roadside assistance, please ask the representative at the rental agency for contact details regarding assistance.

Can I purchase additional insurance to reduce the excess?

Additional insurance can be purchased from the rental agent when you claim the vehicle. Read the terms and conditions of the rental agreement for more information about purchasing additional insurance.

License

What is an international driver’s license and why is it needed?

This is an internationally recognized document that identifies the holder as a licensed driver and it is accepted by most countries worldwide. You will also need to present your national drivers license for this document to be accepted.

Do I need both parts of my British license to rent a car?

You will need the photo ID license and the paper counterpart or you will not be able to rent the car. You will also need a license that is written in Roman letters. If your license is not written in Roman letters, you will need to present an international driver’s license along with your national driver’s license.

What is Included in the Price

What does the price of the rental include?

Most of the rates cover all of the costs of renting the car, but in some countries, this option is not available. Check the rate details during the booking process to see whether the rate is all-inclusive.

What taxes are attached to the rental?

Most of the price quotes that we provide have taxes included. There are some options and extras that are included in the rental agreement that do not have tax included and this will be indicated in the rental agreement.
